Alana
'My life had been great up to that day. It was just me and Dad. I'd never known my mother. As he was in the music business I grew up on a diet of his favourite rock bands. Whenever they toured this country we were often invited backstage and sometimes Dad would be introduced on stage as the 'Hawaiian Elvis Presley'. He loved that. People I'd see on TV frequently used our recording studio and my whole life was dominated by music. There wasn't room for anything else as he put all his efforts into launching my career. Then it all came crashing down with one phone call.'
Set in the music industry, recording artist Alana is suddenly alone when her mentor father is seriously injured in a road traffic accident. She becomes dependent on A & E doctor Kate , who is caring for her father, and when he dies her world is turned upside down by the arrival of her estranged mother Terry at the funeral.
'Alana proved to be an engaging and moving story graced with good performances and lovely live music'
'Monologue melted into dialogue, and dialogue into song seamlessly, and the music choices proved sensitive and moving'
'Alana never became exhausting and by the close had created a delicate and touching story'
